Hi everyone I hope you’re all doing ok!
Welcome to a new corner of Country Rambles – a hopefully encouraging and relatable space I’m calling The Real Midlife Edit – otherwise known as Midlife in Bloom.
If you’ve been following along for a while, you’ll know that my blog is kind of centred around countryside life – from pottering in the garden and caring and sharing news about my dogs and chickens, to exploring local places, sharing seasonal food and a bit of home stuff too. But lately, I’ve felt a quiet nudge to open up a little more – to talk about the woman behind it all, and the journey I’m on now, in this chapter called midlife.
Like many women in their forties, fifties and beyond, I’ve been reflecting on what it means to feel good in yourself, not just about how you look or what you do – but on a deeper level. For me, I’ve decided this season of life isn’t about fading into the background. It’s about blooming in a new direction – with wisdom, self-acceptance, and maybe a bit of gentle rebellion against the idea that life slows down after forty – it really doesn’t have to! But equally if you want it to, that’s fine too – it’s your life!

Midlife in Bloom is here to honour that journey.
This new section of the blog is a space for us – for women navigating midlife and all the changes it brings. I’ll be sharing honest thoughts, small joys, things I’ve learned (and am still learning) plus tips for feeling better in your body, in your home, and in your heart. Hopefully you’ll find encouragement, inspiration, and a reminder that it’s never too late to reconnect with who you really are – or to try something new.
Perhaps you’re working on your wellbeing, seeking more balance in your life, rediscovering old passions or discovering new ones! Maybe you’re simply looking for a place that says you’re not alone, wherever you are, you’re warmly welcome here.

Midlife can be messy, marvellous and also full of unexpected growth. Let’s walk through it together – gently, honestly, and in full bloom!
I’d love to know what you’d like to read about in this new space – feel free to comment below or message me over on Instagram at @CountryRamblesHome or my new account @therealmidlifeedit.
Can I ask a favour of you please? Can you follow me on my socials? I’ve got a The Real Midlife Edit facebook page – with no followers yet and I’ve got lots to share!
Here’s to blooming – whatever age you are!
