So now to answer the questions!

Questions:

Do you like receiving awards?

Yes, I feel really overwhelmed to receive an award,  particularly as I only started my blog a couple of months ago and there are many things I still don’t know about blogging. I’m looking forward to discovering more and learning more about it as I go along.

What’s the first thing you do when you log into WP?

I usually check out my notifications and look at the blog of the person who has liked something I have written.  It’s a great way of discovering some of the fantastic blogs that are out there!

Do you speak more than one language?

Sadly no, but I wish I did! (Well I passed O Level French but I’m certainly not fluent.)

Early bird or night Owl?

Erm, that’s quite a tricky one to answer.  I go to bed relatively late I suppose but equally get up early in the morning! There aren’t enough hours in the day.

What does living mean to you?

Living to me means trying to get the most out of life because none of us know how long we are here for.

Do you drive ?

Yes I do, I avoid motorways where possible though, especially living close to the M25, it’s horrible. I love a drive otherwise and I’ll usually be singing along – loudly – to the radio!

What if you could go back in time ?

It would be amazing to go back in time, but just for the good parts and then to be able to choose how long to stay before returning back to the present. I don’t have a particular era that I would prefer to visit.

Favourite kind of music

I like many kinds of music from classical and country, 70s, 80s and most of the music that is around at the moment.

Are we aliens ?

Well I guess we would be considered aliens to beings from another planet, if they exist.

your best drink ?

Since giving up alcohol my favourite cold drink is sparkling water with a nice (grownup) cordial or traditional lemonade.

Would you like to climb the Everest ?

No, because I am scared of heights.  I did go on a train once to the top of Snowdonia and I am glad I did it – it was like being on the moon.  I made sure I stayed far away from the edge though!

Now for my nominations:

I shall tag a few people on Twitter who are awesome and I can’t wait to see their blog posts, take a look at the answers to the questions.

My questions to you are:

What made you decide to write a blog?

What is your favourite season?

Cats or dogs? Or both?

If you could choose to have a super power  what would it be?

Do you have a favourite flower?

What is your best childhood memory?

Do you believe in angels?

if you could be an animal what would you be?

What music do you like?

Do you have a top inspirational quote?

if you won £1 million on the lottery, what would you do with it?

That’s all for now, I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

  1. Hey Fiona,
Thank you for nominating me. And, also: forwarding these nominations is somehow not ‘my thing’ so I’ll answer your questions here because I do like some fun! 🙂

What made you decide to write a blog? I needed an outlet for all the new things I was discovering in sobriety and found that an anonymous blog could help. After that I found that the sober blogosphere was tremendous! Eternally grateful. 🙂

What is your favourite season? The last days of summer going into autumn

Cats or dogs? Or both? Both!!! But my cat does not appreciate dogs so I’ll think she would throw us out of her house if ever I brought a dog home.

If you could choose to have a super power what would it be? Make people not hurt anymore.

Do you have a favourite flower? Many! From a simple daisy to a cheerful tulip to a dramatic rose to an intricate nigella sativa!

What is your best childhood memory? My brother and I used to play a ball game late in the summer evenings. That was wonderful

Do you believe in angels? Not sure actually. I do believe in ‘pressence’ of something. Not sure if it is ethical to ‘cling’ to them.

if you could be an animal what would you be? A dragon.

What music do you like? Ooh, from country to pop to hard rock to classical to just ‘songs’. Depends on my mood.

Do you have a top inspirational quote? “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.” I actually did a post on slogans I use to motivate myself in sobriety. Shamelessly spamming that in here: https://feelingmywaybackintolife.wordpress.com/2016/07/29/slogans/

if you won £1 million on the lottery, what would you do with it? Buy a small farm, 5-8 acres in my homeland, set up a B&B, live of that. Maybe open it up to sober events too.

Thanks Fiona! This was fun!!! Hope you enjoyed my answers. It actually is a funny way to sort of get to know someone. 🙂

    • Hi, Thank you 😊 I just read your slogans post and it all flows really well, I’m glad things get easier. Perhaps I need to write more on my blog about quitting alcohol as that’s part the reason I started…thing is I’m on the verge of telling a couple of friends about my blog (maybe just maybe) and I would feel bad about them knowing about me drinking too much. That’s my reason for anonymity too 😎 really well done for keeping your resolve and staying sober so long and thanks for answering the questions 😊

      • Anonymity brings me a lot of freedom which I appreciate and need. I tell friends that I am writing and commenting in a private part of the internet. As you might have read from mine and other blogs: a lot of things change during getting sober. I waited months to even speak about sobriety with professionals let alone friends or family. I waited for the time it felt right and for the time I knew for sure my sobriety would not collapse under their possible scorn. 🙂 I believe Heya Monster told a lot of people immediately. I was in awe! I’m guessing one needs to find out what feels good. As I say: whatever it takes (to be sober) is what it takes.

      • Thank for giving me that perspective. I haven’t told anyone (apart from immediate family. It’s hard when people just ‘expect’ you to drink socially isn’t it? Well done for staying strong for so long. I’m sure the longer I manage the easier it will be, I hope!😊

      • Ghegheghe… yeah, the longer you do not drink AND are happy about it, the stronger your sober muscle will get. Being happy/grateful makes it way more easy. I made it a practise to work through my issues during the day as to learn what possibly might make me unhappy. And then I would think that through. But also: While we are being smugg about not drinking, the addict within is doing push-ups in the brain. 😀 Yeah, it is funny. Well, not really, but somehow it does.
Next trap you might want to be aware of at this stage is the success-trap: “Ooh, I have been sober for so long. I am not really addicted. I might as well have one.” Or: “I understand how it works now, I am finally ready to moderate.” Both sentences are not true, they come from the addict within. “Any thought or action which makes you drink now or in the future comes from the addict within.” A little too long for a slogan but it helped me 🙂
Ooh, you might not want to take my advice on how to deal with people, I’m a bit funny with that. Not all too trusting. Keeps me sober, and alone. There is a conflict in that which needs sorting out.

      • Thank you, these are very wise words and I completely agree about not being complacent. It’s a battle that some people will have to always face I guess. It really helps to talk about it with people who understand.
