Making your own houmous really is so simple and tastes delicious – better than shop bought houmous! Personally I feel better when I make food completely from scratch, it just feels more nourishing – if that makes sense. Anyhow this is how to make the best home made houmous:
You will need:
1 400g can of chickpeas (keep the liquid)
2 tsp tahini
1 crushed garlic clove
Pinch of sea salt
3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp lemon juice
Method:
Drain the chickpeas, making sure you reserve the liquid, rinse them in cold water and pop into your food processor (or blender.) Into the food processor add the tahini, garlic, salt, lemon juice and the liquid from the the chickpeas. Blend the ingredients together and either slowly add the olive oil into the mix or you can add this and blend it in at the end.
Simples.
Job done.
It tastes so good too and works out far cheaper than buying ready made houmous.
I’d love to know what you think if you have a go.
Looks and tastes lovely !!!!

I love houmous, I have it almost everyday and, of course, homemade. I like the simplicity of your recipe, it is very similar to the one I usually make.
