What is gratitude

Every day, especially if you are having a particularly bad day,  try and take a little time out  to practice gratitude.  It truly will make you feel a bit better and won’t take up too much of your time.  Just take literally a minute or two to think about small things in your life to be grateful for. I know this is very difficult if you are going through a particularly tough time, but if you can manage this, it might help.   It could be you are grateful for a family member, or a friend.  It could be that person who smiled at you earlier.  Maybe you could be thankful that you live in a part of the world where you are able to get food without too much inconvenience.  Perhaps you could feel happy that the weather has been kind lately or  that you are lucky enough to be able to choose what you wear each day.  You might be blessed with children who love you unconditionally, even if you are a bit grouchy and nag them sometimes.  It may be something simple like smelling the beautiful scent of hyacinths at this time of year.  Just try and think of one thing to be thankful for, no matter how small.   That one moment of feeling truly thankful will instil a positive thought within you.  It will hopefully counteract a negative one that you may have been feeling and might make you feel a bit better, even if only for a short while.  Please give it a try and see what you think.
